Historic Stratford-upon-Avon to host spring festival of motoring

Stratforward is delighted to announce the launch of the Stratford Festival of Motoring in 2013. The inaugural event will take place during the early May bank holiday, on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 May.

More than 200 classic and special interest vehicles are expected to be on display throughout the historic town during the two-day festival which will also feature two "runs" through stunning Warwickshire and Gloucestershire countryside for all entrants.

Sunday 27th January 2013 - the last of the snow has gone and the sun is out!

Saturday 30 June - Sunday 1 July 2012 - The River Festival. Annual river boat race, with home made rafts and other events.

10th June 2012 - Olympic Torch - The Torch arrives in Stratford on 1st July, and is expected to pass
Mrs Garfield's doorstep at 14.50.

Sunday 13th May - The kids decided I needed to go for a walk. Model Aircraft show on at Long Marston Airfield, just down the road. First I've been to. Expected some small displays, not having been to one before. Instead what we actually git were model aircraft flying at literally 180mph !! All sorts or replica odel aircraft, taking off and landing from the old runway. One father and son have a pair of mini Red Arrows, for which they have perfected an aeronautical display, similar to what the real ones do. Very impressive. Fantastic for the kids, the old ones and the young ones.

2nd June 2012 Jubilee Weekend - Town packed out, despite the weather. Union Jacks everywhere, including Avonpark House.
Everybody gone to the Pubs to spend the afternoon watching the Pageant.

Sunday 29th April Stratford marathon and half marathon. Grey skies but the runners not deterred. Half of our Guests this year are participants.

Warwick castle Ghost Hunt Fri 16 Sep 2011 to Sat 17 Sep 2011.

On guard over the Avon stands this great castle that rose in Saxon times from earlier roots. Never shaken by battle but certainly stirred by the drama of life it's walls have harboured powerful earls who have shaped history. Here death and revenge have bared their teeth, perhaps leaving a legacy so that in dark places here we may brush with shades of the past? An exorcised spectral hound, a ghost that emerges from a portrait, these are but two of the well known hauntings that history records. Cleaners and security personnel report encounters with others. Do those who should be at rest still stir in the dark places of the fortress of Warwick ?

11 - 14 April 2011 25th Anniversary of the Bulldog Bash held annually at Long Marston Airfield just 3 miles away.

29th and 30th July 2011 The Annual Global Gathering pop festival was held this weekend at Long Marston Airfield, just outside town. Thousands of youngsters (all younger than me anyway), listening to very loud music that I don't recognise anymore ! Sun blazing all weekend.

26th June 2011 The Chinese Prime Minister visited Shakespeare's Birthplace today, as part of a three day trip to Britain.
